Reina de Cavite

large street art mural at Cavite City, Cavite Philippines
Qudo x Lamok x Blic x Rai Cruz

Through the hardwork and persistence of Blic, we finished this large piece. It was hard because we had no scaffolds. We only used
ladders and poles.

The Reina de Cavite “Nuestra Señora de la Soledad de Porta Vaga” is revered as the patron of Cavite City. In the midst of the prosperous galleon trade of the 1600’s, merchants and fishermen believed the patron provided them guidance and grace. The origin of this belief was brought about by a story claiming that a Guardia Civil at Cañacao Bay saw an apparition of the Marian Image hovering above the bay. This is now being commemorated and honored through a festival “Karakol sa Dagat” wherein there is a procession of boats carrying the image of the Reina de Cavite.

Unfortunately, after just one week, this artwork was already painted over with white paint by local authorities.
